A brief biography for:

Dr. Mark Bentley
ACE Director of Dentistry
dentist@acexperience.org

Dr. Bentley comes from Martins Ferry, Ohio, in Eastern Ohio near the foothills of the Appalachians, along the Ohio River.  He attended and graduated from Ohio State University and later received his Dental degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown.  On July 15th, 1974 Dr. Bentley opened his practice in Troy,  Ohio.

A brief biography for:

Dr. Steve Guy
ACE Medical Missions Director
medicalmissions@acexperience.org

Dr. Guy is native of the Dayton, Ohio area and has lived there his entire life except for his time as a medical student at The Ohio State University in Columbus. He and his wife Chris were married in 1976 just before starting medical school. Chris and Dr. Guy have worked together from the beginning of their marriage to build family and serve others.

Before starting a family they led their church youth group. They now have five sons and three daughters who have been the focus of their lives. The four oldest are in college or professional school and four younger ones are still at home. They also have worked together in practice for over 20 years, at first building a private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology and over the past few years incorporating their practice into the University Women’s Health Center with Wright State University.

Dr. Guy is now involved full time in the teaching of medical students and residents as well as continuing to be active in private practice. He is an Assistant Professor in the Wright State University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He serves as the Director of Gynecology, Medical Director of Family Beginnings Birth Center, and the Medical Director of University Women’s Health Center.

His specialty interests include supporting natural childbirth, gynecologic surgery, ultrasound and a holistic approach to healing. Dr. Guy and his practice partners support the medical care and supervise the clinics that serve indigent women and their families in the Dayton area. They also provide the prenatal care for women who have chosen life over abortion from a crisis pregnancy center.

Chris and Dr. Guy have been actively involved in their church throughout their lives. Their faith has grown and matured as they have faced the trials and tribulations of raising eight children as well as dealing with the pain and suffering of others in their practice. They have had to grow through Chris’ personal battle with cancer. This journey has been the single most important event that has helped them assess their priorities and truly open their life to God’s leading.

Service and mentoring have led to spiritual growth and fulfillment for Dr. Guy and his family through mission projects sponsored by their church. A dream of serving in international medical missions became a reality in 2004 when Dr. Guy was invited by a friend to accompany them on a mission trip to Jamaica. Dr. Guy and his daughter were able to meet and serve the Jamaicans and a seed was planted to continue service and ministry in this area.

Dr. Guy was asked to serve as the ACE Medical Missions Director and has had the pleasure of meeting and working with servants from all over the United States as well as developing relationships with the medical community in Jamaica.

A brief biography for:

Amber Wendling
ACE Stateside Coordinator
amber@acexperience.org

mber Wendling first learned about ACE when she went on a mission trip with her church, SouthBrook Christian. As the weeklong trip drew to a close, she found herself wanting to stay. It was during her trip that she found out about the I-Quest internship. She went through the application process and was accepted as an intern for the summer of 2008.

During her 70 day stay on the island, Amber helped lead American teams, served in the home of a Jamaican pastor and his wife, worked with ACE's child sponsorship kids, served at two Jamaican weddings, helped lead a women's Bible study, and she became an expert painter by the end of her stay. The summer spent in Jamaica was one that she will never forget and the experience was truly transformational. Amber is working on completing her college degree in Sociology at Sinclair Community College. She lives in her hometown of Moraine, Ohio.

As one of our Stateside Coordinators, Amber will make sure all the details are in order for your trip to Jamaica. She handles the payments, documentation and checklists to keep group leaders organized and informed.

A brief biography for:

Kelly Deushane
ACE Stateside Coordinator
kelly@acexperience.org

Kelly comes to us with a background in journalism and extensive volunteer work. She has planned mission trips and fundraisers for her daughters' schools, been a Girl Scout leader/advisor for 14 years, in addition to heading up numerous other community and church service projects. She credits her youngest daughter, Bailey, for introducing her to Marla and the ACE ministry.

Marla was Bailey's small group leader in middle school at a church in suburban Atlanta. Since her first trip to Jamaica, Kelly and her family have been enthusiastic supporters of the ACE mission. Her daughter Bailey organized a used school uniform collection drive, sending thousands of pieces of clothing to us in Jamaica and giving the Deushanes a chance to meet many of our trip leaders.

Kelly and her husband John live in Alpharetta, Georgia with Bailey (17) and (when not at college) their daughter Taylor (19). Kelly will get your trip booked, help answer questions you might have about your trip and keep things organized on the Stateside while Marla keeps things running in Jamaica.
