WE ARE a Christ-based outreach ministry dedicated to community transformation in the parish of St.Mary, Jamaica through strategic initiatives in education, enterprise, healthcare, and discipleship.

HOW DO WE DO IT? ACE enables volunteers to join in its outreach through a variety of hands-on experiences. Individuals and groups from all over the world come to volunteer their talents and know-how, which helps provide self-sustaining solutions to local problems, and in turn, empowers the people of St. Mary, Jamaica.

WHAT IS OUR IMPACT? With more than 30 years experience working in Jamaica and a deep understanding and passion for the country, ACE serves as a model for successful community outreach. Additionally, while making a direct impact during their time in Jamaica, volunteers often return home with a new understanding and passion for service which results in continued ministry to those in need throughout the globe.

Marla Fitzwater, Founder and Executive Director of ACE, arrived on the island in 1988 coordinating short-term mission teams to work in Jamaica. Her work began to form what is now ACE.

During the early years, Marla quickly observed that those receiving the primary benefit from volunteer efforts were actually the people and organizations who were serving. These visitors were touched by the experience and inspired to continue serving others upon returning home. Ironically, the local community had not experienced any long lasting change. Despite the projects and improvements, the community inevitably returned to a poverty state physically, mentally and most of all, spiritually. She also learned that poor healthcare and lack of education was a reality and that without improvements in those two basic areas, people just wouldn’t have a chance to grow and flourish the way God intended.

Through these tough lessons, the strategy for ACE’s outreach was born. To this day, our ministry focuses in four main areas of Impact: education, healthcare, enterprise, and discipleship.

About the Scriptures
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

About God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity and (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.

About Humanity
We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian Life
We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

About the Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.

Hurricane Melissa Update: October 30, 2025

The road is now clear from the hotel to thje farm. We are looking for skilled workers who can operate heavy equipment and tools like chainsaws. It would be amazing to have a skilled welder come down and volunteer for us as well. If you’re interested, please email Susan at office@acexperience.org.

Additionally, Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay will be reopening within the week with a phased reopening. The damaged terminal was already in the works to be replaced. It is not going to be repaired. Tarmacs and runways are undamaged. Fencing around the airport was damaged. Air traffic controls have some issues, which will be resolved this week. So good news there for our upcoming teams!

Hurricane Melissa Update: October 29, 2025

“Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” It’s been a hard week for our staff on the ground, preparing for the storm as much as possible and waiting it out in uncertainty. For our team in St. Mary, the biggest impact of the storm was felt after the hurricane left the island, and the winds are still strong this morning.

We’ve heard from Marla and Althia, both safe and with some damage surrounding them. We have several trees down, some water leaks, handrails missing at the hotel, and roughly 10 solar panels that fell off. Four have been found, two damaged, and we are still searching for the other six. Thankfully, Starlink is still up, and we are able to start taking down the plywood and have those who stayed with us at the hotel and campus start to check on their own homes. There will be plenty of cleanup before us, especially within the community.

We are also still waiting to hear back from 90% of our staff due to connection losses. Please continue to pray that we find each staff member safe and sound. Pray that our damaged airports are repaired quickly, and finally, pray for the people of Cuba. The hurricane has hit the poorest part of nation, and their structures cannot endure this storm.

Thank you, ACE family, for enduring this storm with us and faithfully praying with us each day. Your prayers were felt and answered in incredible ways. We love you all. ❤️

Hurricane Melissa Update: October 28, 2025

In the midst of everything, one of our staff members, Bulla, ended up in the Port Maria Hospital last night after suffering a heart attack. While the timing is not ideal, he is in the best place he could be right now, resting comfortably and healing. Please pray for his recovery and peace over his family as the storm draws closer.

Hurricane Melissa Update: October 27, 2025

The weather has picked up, and Hurricane Melissa is now a category 5 storm, projected to make landfall tomorrow. We’ve had some electrical damages with all the surges, and our team on the ground is tired. Please add strength and supernatural rest for our staff to your prayer list.

We still don’t know what our biggest needs will be after the storm passes, but we know we will need some cleanup crews.

Hurricane Melissa Update: October 25, 2025

Tropical Storm Melissa has turned into a hurricane, Jamaican airports have closed, and we’ve done everything we can to prepare. We’ve taken up and stored all outdoor pipes and carefully closed up all of our beehive equipment. Our newly acquired and set-up aeroponic towers have been wrapped up to safely secure them and keep them from blowing away. All hoses were stowed away. And most of our smaller equipment, like our chocolate machines, have been unplugged and tied up with garbage bags. We’ve also moved the cows to higher ground. It’s meticulous work, but if it gives us a chance to protect our micro-businesses, initiatives, and ministry as a whole from costly damage, every extra measure we take is well worth it.

Everyone has gone home to prepare for their families, excluding the group that’s staying with us at the hotel. Ms. Jones, who is pregnant, is here with her three children, spouse, and aunt because they live in an area known as Wilderness and are concerned the water will come up and wash their houses away. Robin and Sue are staying at the Campus House as well. We are so thankful that we still get to serve thanks to the Lord giving us the space.

The rain is here, and the wind is starting to pick up. Keep praying for the safety and protection of our ministry and everyone here in Jamaica. The eye has now moved more towards the east end of Jamaica. We will still get plenty of wind and rain, but if it moves north, we will see less activity.

Hurricane Melissa Update: October 21, 2025

Tropical Storm Melissa is expected to stall close to Jamaica and form in the Caribbean soon. This storm seems similar to Hurricane Ivan from 2004, which completely devastated the island. Please partner with us in prayer that this storm will move south and spare Jamaica of this kind of devastation.
