Summer at ACE is full of energy. Mission teams come and go, the grounds are busy, and the days feel long and purposeful. But when the last team heads home and the island settles back into its quieter rhythms, the important work in our ministry remains.
The truth is, the heart of ACE doesn’t pause when the summer mission trips end. In many ways, that’s when steady, faithful work becomes even more essential.
Our team on the ground continues day and night. They keep operations running smoothly at Buccaneers. They deliver quarterly groceries to families in need. They are constantly working on organizing donations and office supplies, handling the admin that keeps everything moving, tending the farm, caring for the animals, maintaining the hotel grounds, and finishing construction projects.
In fact, just this week, with volunteers from FCC Stillwater and Lifesong Church, our team has made remarkable progress on two of the three construction projects we recently requested help for. View the photos below to see how much work has been completed on the Baggo children’s home, as well as the new kitchen for the Rhoden and Small Family Home. Our staff will soon complete the final project, building a roof for the Anderson, Reid and Gray Family Home.
It’s not glamorous. It’s often quiet. And it’s hard work.
But our incredible team endures through every season because they keep the mission in front of them. They know that changing lives and transforming communities doesn’t happen only when the teams are here. It happens in the daily faithfulness of showing up, again and again, for the people God has called us to serve here in St. Mary, Jamaica.
Galatians 6:9 reminds us that the harvest doesn’t come because the work is easy. It comes because we refuse to give up. At the proper time, God brings the fruit. Our job is simply to keep faithfully sowing without growing weary.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:9
So even when the summer crowds have gone, the mission teams spread out, and the pace feels quieter, we refuse to grow weary and instead choose to trust that God is creating something much bigger than ourselves as we prepare to reap a harvest in our community.
