Remember Clive, the gentleman in our AMI program who we built a tiny home for almost three years ago? Clive had a stroke before our team met him, but we were told by neighbors that he was living in tough conditions and couldn’t speak or do anything for himself.

Through the assistance of ACE friends and volunteers, we built Clive a house. It is a tiny home, with no kitchen or living room, but it’s also a dry, clean room with windows, no leaks in the roof, and most of all, ACE friends who visit regularly with food, smiles, rakes, and love.

Being consistent in supplying care showed up this week in the most wonderful way…

Upon driving up the road to Clive’s home, who did we see walking down his hill to meet us? None other than Clive himself! He didn’t know we were coming, but he was heading to the little store down the path to where we park.

Yes, Clive, on his own without rehab therapy or anyone helping him, managed to start walking again with a cane. Granted, it was a struggle for him, but he was doing it!

Latoya, Pat, and Arlene were pleasantly surprised and beyond excited that God was answering all the many prayers we have prayed that Clive would begin to walk again and be able to take care of himself.

Independence is an important part of living, as we all know. And seeing our prayers answered for Clive increased all our spirits.

I hope when you return to Jamaica, you will have time to see Clive and take a walk with him around the neighborhood.
